Assistant Professor of American Literature, Race, and Ethnic Studies
Penn State Harrisburg's School of Humanities is accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of American Literature, Race, and Ethnic Studies to start August 2021.
Duties
- Teach a 3-3 load of a range of courses including introductory literature courses, 200-level courses covering significant American time periods and literary theory, and 400-level courses focusing on genres and special topics, including courses cross-listed with American Studies
- Publish scholarly research on a regular basis and engage in professional development and outreach
- Advise students in the major
- Engage in service activities for the school, college, university, profession, and community
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in English or a related field with a specialty in American literature (degree must be completed before hire)
- Expertise in the subjects of race and ethnicity
- Experience teaching courses in American literature
- A record of published, peer-reviewed scholarship and a clear research trajectory in American literature, race, and ethnic studies
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to teach interdisciplinary courses
- Experience with advising and mentoring
