The Student Organizations Coordinator serves as an integral part of the professional staff within Student Leadership & Involvement, working directly with 500+ student organizations. They serve as a professional adviser who is responsible for advising, training, and maintaining the Recognized Student Organizations community and works collaboratively with elected and appointed ASUU student leaders.

The ASUU Office is a very fast-paced environment with students, staff and community members consistently having various needs from the seven full-time staff, many student employees, and graduate students. As the Student Organizations Coordinator, this position provides regular student advisement to Student Organization student leaders and the ASUU Campus Relations Director of the Executive Cabinet. This position works closely with student organization leaders and members, advisors, and campus departments to create transformative leadership opportunities that result in effective and efficient, fiscally sound programs and services that support the mission of Student Leadership & Involvement.

The incumbent will report to the Associate Director of Student Leadership & Involvement.

COMPENSATION: $36,000 - $45,000

WORK SCHEDULE: Full Time, 8:00am-5:00pm Monday – Friday, some evenings.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides day-to-day maintenance of student organization management software, including serving as a portal liaison to campus stakeholders, and updating website information as needed
  • Ensures student organizations are in compliance with university and departmental policies
  • Stays abreast of legal or other related changes impacting the program and makes recommendations for improvement and compliance
  • Coordinates and implements yearly student organization registration process, including reviewing reactivation submissions
  • Acts as a liaison and information resource to student organization advisors, new and existing student organizations, and University college/departments
  • Meets with and advises new and existing student organizations
  • May supervise one graduate assistant for RSOsupport and consultations (depending on the year)
  • Supervises student leaders who support student organizations
  • Advises the ASUU Campus Relations Board
  • Creates and distributes the bi-weekly student group newsletter
  • Provides ongoing support for student organizations through regular phone and email communication
  • Assists with presentations to student organization advisors and student organizations
  • Supports RSO’s with any needs that may arise or evolve with their changing needs, i.e. consulting on how to take their club virtual/remote in the pandemic era
  • May be required to provide office support, assist students with customer service opportunities, assist in the revision and implementation of policies and procedures, and to participate as staff representation on existing university committees
  • Participates in ASUU events as a professional staff member, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency required (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Departmental Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree. Effective communication skills also required. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills required as well as a desire to work in a team setting are required. Ability to work effectively and efficiently with a variety of constituencies including students, parents, faculty/staff, and community organizations is required. The incumbent must be capable of prioritizing and managing several tasks concurrently in a fast paced environment. Solid knowledge of technology, strong computer proficiency and a commitment to supporting the academic mission and advocating for students are further required.

PREFERENCES: Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Marketing, Psychology, Social Work, or Technology, with 2 years of progressive experience. Experience utilizing and managing student organization management software.
