Under general supervision has primary responsibility for introducing first-year law students to legal writing and analysis.

Essential Duties Summary

• Has full-time teaching assignment (12-credit hours per academic year) in Lawyering Process.
• Teaches and administers related assessments of all first-year law students for the writing component of the Lawyering Process course.
• Counsels law students concerning writing projects. Reviews student writing projects.
• Administers, reviews, and provides feedback on standardized writing proficiency exam administered to first-year students.
• Prepares and reviews plagiarism guidelines for distribution to students.
• Provides writing instructional support to courses requiring significant written work product, upon request of the Professor with overall responsibility for delivery of course content.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned during academic year and summer term.

Hiring Range $64,151.00 - $85,000.00 Education

Work Experience

Three (3) years, or more experience editing complex documents, preferably complex legal/law related documents.

Strong academic record and excellent writing ability. Professional editing experience preferred. Formal Training and experience in the drafting and assessment of legal documents preferred.

Active member of a State Bar. Legal practice experience that will inform instruction regarding drafting of legal /law-related documents.
