Under general supervision assist with financial planning, record keeping, billing and perform routine clerical and administrative duties related to the operations, functions, and activities of the department or division.
This is a Grant Funded position.
Essential Duties Summary
• Provides support to SSS STEM Director by implementing day-to-day administrative procedures and processes consistent with established University policies and systems.
• Provides comprehensive academic, personal, career and financial aid counseling to each program participant.
• Composes, reviews and distributes confidential correspondence, reports, forms, and documents that are sent to internal and external contacts.
• Responds independently within scope of responsibility.
• Compiles statistics, gathers and computes various data. Verifies accuracy of information on standard University forms. Prepares graphs, charts and program information for management use or presentations about departmental or divisional activities.
• Establishes and maintains departmental files, records and reports. Follows procedures for systematic retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of files and records.
• Assesses and documents the academic and motivational needs of students selected for participation in program activities.
• Assists in publicizing the SSS STEM Program and in obtaining nominations from the university in an effort to identify, screen and select eligible participants.
• Assists SSS STEM participants in securing financial aid resources.
• Monitors and documents the academic progress of each participant.
• Plans and implements enrichment activities and/or tutorial sessions throughout academic component.
• Supervises and trains undergraduate/graduate tutors.
• Engages in collaborative efforts with the university STEM Department to seek internal and external resources to augment counseling services.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Hiring Range $41,976.00 - $62,964.00 Education
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S) or higher.
Master’s degree in education, social work, or education fields preferred.
Required Licensing/Certification
Valid Texas Driver’s License preferred.

Work Experience
Minimum of two to three years of appropriate and relevant professional experience working in a TRIO federal program or similar related program for disadvantaged and at-risk college students.
• Experience coordinating/supervising programming visits and cultural events.
• Experience advising and assisting participants with the Graduate School admissions and financial aid process.
• Familiarity with spreadsheets and databases management.
• Professional or personal experiences in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting program participants.
• Formal training and/ or work experience in programming that promotes the annual persistence of SSS STEM eligible students from one academic year to the next.
• Formal training and/or work experience in programming that improves the annual academic standing rates of eligible students.
• Formal training and/or work experience promoting college graduation rates for SSS STEM eligible students.
• Formal training and/or work experience in Effective Student “Coaching”, specifically in the areas of guiding SSS STEM eligible students with financial aid, financial literacy, goal setting, time management, self-advocacy, and study skills.
