Position Summary:

The Financial Manager serves as the designee of and reports directly to the Associate Director, Business Services - Chief Financial Officer. This position is primarily responsible for providing day-to-day direction and supervision of the Department of Medicine accounting office. Other key responsibilities include: organizing and controlling a variety of financial activities including maintaining the department's basic systems of accounting, budgeting and financial control; post-award financial reviews; purchasing; accounts payable; travel and expense reimbursement; and property control. In addition, this position will prepare and analyze reports on financial position based on past, present and future operations.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required. Preferably in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related discipline.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Minimum 5 - 7 years progressive accounting experience with business and financial management, automated financial systems, and financial report analysis and preparation is required.

Minimum 3 years supervisory experience is preferred.

Experience in various financial settings (i.e., public accounting, corporate or business finance) would be beneficial.

Experience in an academic medical environment where several legal entities, programmatic and budgetary processes co-exist and interact is preferred.

License or Certificate:

CPA or CMA designation is highly desirable.

Additional Information:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written is required.
