Assistant Director of Employee and Labor Relations

Position Summary   Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Human Resources, the Assistant Director of Employee and Labor Relations is responsible for directing the operations of the HR employee and labor relations functions.  Primary responsibilities include planning and conducting investigations, interpreting contract language, processing grievances, managing monthly labor meetings, and addressing critical labor issues.  This position also supervises the Employee and Labor Relations Manager.   Minimum Qualifications   • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field.   • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in union environment.  • Experience as a direct manager/supervisor of employees. • Knowledge, understanding, and ability to accurately apply federal and state employment laws. • Experience in management or human resources required.  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  • Experience in conducting investigative interviews and complaint investigations. • Strong written documentation, note-taking, investigative interviewing, and investigations skills.   • Experience leading conflict resolution and problem solving by utilizing proven techniques. • Must have excellent customer service skills, teamwork and collaboration skills with multiple and diverse constituents.  • Must be able to prioritize workload yet be responsive to situations as they arise.     HFC offers a competitive benefit package.  Pleases review our benefit package under our Exempt Benefit tab at www.hfcc.edu/human-resources
