Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 8,300 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The University is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas of Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The Department of Athletic Faculty at Kutztown University invites applications for a full-time, non-teaching, 12-month tenure track position as the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics to lead our 21 sport NCAA Division II Athletic Program.  This position will begin either January or May 2021.  This position reports to the vice president of University Relations & Athletics and oversees all aspects of intercollegiate athletics, including NCAA compliance, supervision of programs, personnel and facilities, games management, and department policies and procedures.  The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated personnel management, fundraising experience, strategic-planning skills, support of the NCAA Division II philosophy, and knowledge of NCAA compliance. A commitment to diversity initiatives, and the department, division and university mission and vision are also required.

In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performance review and evaluation of faculty is based on effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities; continuing scholarly growth; and service. Required: Master’s degree in an applicable field of study; a minimum of 5 years’ experience as an athletic director or 7 years in athletic administration; experience with NCAA compliance; strong leadership and budget management skills; demonstrated fundraising experience; experience with strategic planning; demonstrated games management experience; excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills; experience with diverse populations, including employees, student-athletes and all athletic constituents; and experience with support of Title IX in athletics.  Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate experience with: implementation of new and emerging sports; working with employees under collective bargaining agreements; and experience at the intercollegiate level.
