Description/Job Summary

Baltimore City Community College is searching for an Instructor/Assistant Professor/Clinical Coordinator in Paramedicine. This position requires expertise in the field of paramedicine and working knowledge of clinical site coordination. The Clinical Coordinator is a professional, credentialed educator responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness for clinical experiences. The selected candidate will teach 15 credit hours per semester and coordinate the clinical sites for students. Responsibilities include maintaining scheduled office hours; developing and revising curriculum; training faculty in new curriculum as needed; developing and implementing course and program assessment of student learning outcomes; developing and maintaining relationships with clinical and academic partners; participating in college, division, and department meetings; serving on committees; and other duties as assigned. Teaching assignments could be any combination of face to face (day or evening), hybrid or online, and are subject to change as needed.

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Ensure clinical contracts are developed, updated, and maintained for each healthcare institution and that program clinical standards are followed.
  • Develop, evaluate, and assess student placement in the program.
  • Revise clinical curricula to reflect the hospital industry's expectations for entry level practitioners.
  • Develop, and revise existing clinical performance expectations to reflect currency in the Paramedicine accreditation standards.
  • Assists in maintaining appropriate inventory of EMS supplies for laboratory instruction.
  • Plans and implements retention strategies in the Paramedicine program.
  • Aids and supports the accreditation process.
  • Contributes to the overall achievement of the college’s mission and goals through effective instruction and classroom management.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy.
  • Maintain data to support the student learning and outcome assessment process.
  • Creates and maintains an environment of rapport and respect.
  • Clearly establishes expectations for learning and achievement.
  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate records on attendance and student progress.
  • Make referrals to college resources available to provide services or assistance to students.
  • Provide guidance to students for academic planning.
  • Engages in the college community for intra-professional networking and professional development.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field of expertise basing current instructional practice on recent evidence.
  • Communicate learning expectations.
  • Varies teaching techniques and incorporate current technologies.
  • Provide students with written and oral feedback.
  • Engages in self-assessment of teaching practices and professional development needs.
  • Keep all classes and office hours for the required amount of time set forth by the college and maintain good classroom management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Paramedicine or related field.
  • 3 consecutive years of experience as an Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic or higher.
  • Maintains a Maryland EMS certification or license as an Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic or higher.
  • Has current knowledge of the Maryland Medical Protocols for Emergency Medical Services Providers.
  • Familiarity with Canvas or another learning management system (LMS).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health field.
  • Knowledge of CoEMPS and MIEMSS Accreditation process.
  • Working relationship with Baltimore City/County Fire Department.
