About the Opportunity:
The School of Rehabilitation Sciences seeks a Budget Manager to join their growing team, within the Bouve College of Health Sciences. The School of Rehabilitation Sciences, comprised of three Departments: The Department of Communications and Disorders, The Department of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences and the Physician Assistant Program collectively employs 44 Full-time Faculty and 11 Full-time Staff. The primary objective of this role is support the School of Rehabilitation Sciences as it relates to their departmental budgets and financial processes.

Please note: The primary work location for this position is the Boston MA Northeastern University Campus Location. Until our full return to campus, which is still to-be-determined, this interview process will be conducted remotely- including virtual interviews, remote onboarding and remote work. The remote nature of this position is subject to change in the future and is only temporary. Local, on-campus work will be required once the College and this role return to an operational status that supports it.

Responsibilities:
The Budget Manager oversees budget management and forecasting for their respective school within Bouve College of Health Sciences. This position has direct oversight and responsibility for the budgets and financial process that fall within the Departments that make up their respective school. This position reports directly to the Director of Administration and Finance in the Bouve College of Health Sciences Dean's Office, with a dotted line to the leadership of the School/department/units they support for collective success.
This position provides fiscal forecasting to assist the school leadership in determination and allocation of resources for the school they support. The Budget Manager will implement processes and controls for financial and budgetary functions in adherence to established NU/College policies and accreditation as applicable. This individual must be able to communicate efficiently, professionally and effectively to and on behalf of the School Associate Dean/Department Chairs/unit leaders that supports, requiring leadership; critical problem-solving skills; ability to make independent judgments regarding financial and budgetary activities, and optimal customer service. This individual provides direct hands on management and processing of transactions and related processes for all budgets within the School; prepares reports and analysis of revenue and expense activity at the request of the School/Department/ program leadership; tracks and monitors department contracts; maintains records for transactions and generates department spreadsheets including projections of all personnel and non-personnel expenses; advises faculty and school staff on budget procedures, college policies and procedures, training on purchasing, Concur delegate, oversight and tracking, , E-print reports and Banner; advises on funds available; manages fiscal year monthly reconciliation, quarterly projections closing and start. This position interacts routinely with the College Dean's Office and other key offices at the University. This position must demonstrate experience with compliance issues and ability to quickly learn compliance issues and NU/College policies/regulations. Exceptional communication skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines and deliverables is required.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field required, Masters preferred.

  • Five to seven years of financial and operations management of multiple budgets required.

  • Experience in academic financial administration experience strongly preferred.

  • Budgeting and quantitative analytical experience required.


    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Outstanding organizational skills demonstrated computer literacy [Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook], and proven ability to learn new approaches/programs and data systems such as Argos and Banner.

  • Ability to work under multiple tight deadlines and to efficiently multi-task while providing optimal results and customer service required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including email correspondence.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team with administration, faculty, staff and students. Strong customer service skills required.
