The UVU Center for Social Impact develops active citizens who make social impact in their communities. Our work focuses on the social impact pathways of Direct Service, Community Engaged Learning & Research, Social Entrepreneurship & Corporate Social Responsibility, Policy & Governance, Community Organizing & Activism, and Philanthropy. We design programs, initiatives, and collaborations that move students from pathway entry points to more substantial community learning experiences.

The Program Director - Impact Engagement Design is responsible for oversight and management of Impact Fellows engagement (including advising student leaders, coordinating trainings, providing career transition support, doing alumni outreach), Alternative Breaks, Social Impact Seminar, and future development of additional engagement opportunities (please see more detailed list below). This position requires tenacity, energy, and a commitment to social impact and civic engagement work.

This position is part of a dynamic and interconnected team of staff and students, and reports directly to the Director of the Center for Social Impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure and instill the social impact framework in all program operations - working in power with community and living experts
  • Create and execute impactful, educational, experiences for students (events such as U-Impact Week, Make a Difference Day, Clothesline Project, Climate Justice VR Experience, Lip Sync fundraiser, Hunger Banquet, and Social Impact Showcase)
  • Represent the Impact Fellows, Alternative Breaks, Social Impact Seminar, and future Pathway Speaker Series programs across campus and in the community
  • Create and execute trainings to prepare student leaders, staff/faculty partners, and/or community for their program experiences
  • Manage programs budget—revenues, expenses, receipts, and report
  • Manage crisis and risk management practices
  • Create and/or manage effective systems for successful engagement execution: applications, selection, scholarships, training, assessment, and reporting
  • Assist in executing events and office management
  • Assist in developing strategies and templates to improve program quality effectiveness, accountability, and response to student and community partner needs.
  • Review and evaluate programs and make enhancements to improve effectiveness, learning outcomes and future offerings
  • Carry out other duties necessary to the success of the programs and other projects within the Center for Social Impact

    Required Qualifications:
    Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree and two years of experience directly related to the Summary of Duties OR a bachelor’s degree plus four years of directly related experience and/or any combination of education and/or experience directly related to the Summary of Duties totaling eight years.

    KNOWLEDGE
    • Knowledge of and commitment to social impact and civic engagement work.
    • An understanding of the challenges to social impact work
    • Knowledge of systems thinking, service-learning, community outreach, community development, and/or student leadership programs
    • Knowledge of Alternative Breaks/social impact trips
    • Knowledge of the social impact pathways (Direct Service, Community Engaged Learning & Research, Social Entrepreneurship & Corporate Social Responsibility, Policy & Governance, Community Organizing & Activism, and Philanthropy).

    Preferred Qualifications:
    •Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
    • Experience with service-­learning, community outreach, and/or student leadership
    • Experience in multiple pathways of social impact (Direct Service, Community Engaged Learning & Research, Social Entrepreneurship & Corporate Social Responsibility, Policy & Governance, Community Organizing & Activism, and Philanthropy)
    • Proficiency in stated knowledge, skills, and abilities
    • Two or more years of experience in higher education, community engaged learning, nonprofit work, community development, student leadership development, or related field


    Physical Requirements:
    Office environment with sitting and walking frequently and talking, hearing, seeing along with fine hand manipulation for computer work.
