Summary:
Utah Valley University located in Orem, Utah seeks an Assistant Professor - Philosophy. AOS: Epistemology; we especially encourage applicants who focus on social, political, or feminist epistemology. AOC: Open. Duties include: Teach 4 courses per semester (8 per year) in the undergraduate philosophy program at the upper and lower division, including, but not limited to upper division courses in Epistemology, Feminist Epistemology, and Gender Studies, as well as Ethics and Values and Introduction to Philosophy. Candidates must be committed to inclusion and openness to diverse perspectives. The successful candidate will teach Epistemology from a diversity of cultural and theoretical perspectives. Instruction can include internet and evening courses. Candidate must have experience teaching in a college/university setting. Candidate must demonstrate scholarly research consistent with disciplinary specialization. Candidate will engage in department and university service, including curriculum development. The successful candidate joins a vibrant and collegial department. Salary and benefits competitive.

Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. required in a related field to the coursework being taught. ABD with strong evidence of imminent completion will be considered. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content.

  • Knowledge of student management, motivation, evaluation techniques.
  • Skills in teaching, mentoring, research productivity, and commitment to professional development.
  • Skills in effective instructional strategies and techniques.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary collegiate team environment.

Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements typical of teaching: extended use of keyboard for computer; extended time sitting, standing, and walking.
