Professional Lecturer of Education and Assessment Coordinator

The Marist College Education Department seeks candidates for the full-time faculty position of Professional Lecturer of Education and Assessment Coordinator, to begin in Fall 2021.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requirements for the position include an earned doctorate in the field of education from an accredited university. In particular, we seek faculty with expertise in Literacy education for grades 1-6 and/or 7 – 12.

The successful candidate will have teacher certification, teaching experience in public school settings, including experience with collaborative partnerships in diverse educational settings and students with disabilities. The candidate should have an ability to integrate technology into instruction and be open to a variety of course delivery methods (e.g. online or hybrid). 

Candidates must also bring expertise in teacher education assessment and accreditation, familiarity with one of the major accrediting agencies (e.g., AAQEP and/or CAEP), and fluency with data management systems and processes.

Essential Functions:

Primary responsibilities are divided among undergraduate and graduate instruction in P – 12 education methods and assessment coordinator responsibilities. This faculty position carries 24 credits per year, which are expected to be split evenly between teaching and leadership of assessment efforts. Also responsible for advisement of students and participation in departmental activities. 

About the Department:

The Education Department is a member of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences along with departments for psychology, criminal justice, and social work. The Education Department offers a variety of teacher preparation programs including: (1) elementary education, grades 1-6, with dual certification for students with disabilities (2) a birth through second grade teacher certification, and (3) 7 - 12 grade certification in seven content areas (English, math, social studies, biology, chemistry, Spanish, and French) also with dual certification for students with disabilities.  The department offers a 5-year program to the elementary/students with disabilities candidates that results in an MA in Educational Psychology. Our adolescence education program is offered only in a 5-year format, and provides graduates with the coursework to complete certification in their content area for grades 7-12, special education certification, and as Master of Arts in Teaching.
