Position Summary 

The Cyber Security and Compliance Analyst position provides support to the Fort Lewis College community for security awareness, mandated compliance programs, and operational security monitoring and remediation. The position reports to the Director of Information Technology (CIO) and works in a team-oriented environment, collaborating with IT staff, and other college departments.   

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the field of computer  science, computer information systems or information management related discipline  
  • Minimum four years of professional experience in the Information Technology field,  including significant cyber security duties  
  • Working knowledge of cyber security issues, tools, remediation and training  
  • Proficient written and presentation skills.   
  • Outstanding organizational skills.   
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.    
  • Fingerprint and background check to become CJIS certified to work on the FLC-PD systems 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience working with PCI standards.  
  • Experience working with DMCA notifications.   
  • Experience working in a Higher Education environment.   
  • Experience with Linux system administration including scripting.  
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows server administration including scripting.   
  • Experience with Enterprise Level networking.  

Major Responsibilities 

  • The college has purchased the Microsoft A5 license and is embarking on a project to maximize  the MS Advanced Threat Protection.  This position is a critical and hands on role in the migration to and support of ATP.  
  • Primary person responsible for FLC Cyber Security Awareness. Includes new employee and  faculty orientation training. Creating, maintaining and administering online training in Canvas LMS. Monthly campus emails regarding Security Awareness. Campus emails during specific security events and incidents.  
  • Daily reviews result of security logs, systems, and help desk tickets. After investigation may  requests individual systems to be remediated.    
  • Daily manages the reporting and handling of junk email. Includes phishing and other malicious  emails. Recommends removing emails from system, blocking email and notifying individuals and the campus community.  
  • Responsible for compliance with Payment Card Industry standards. Manages external network  scans. Completes Self-Assessment questionnaires. Works in cooperation with other IT areas to create PCI compliant solutions. Audits individual systems considered in scope. Reviews system logs to maintain PCI compliance. Provide training and consulting to end users, recommending policy and/or procedure changes. Documents activities and systems.  
  • Cooperatively working with Systems Administrators and Network Engineers, scans the server  network and servers. Reviews results and makes recommendations for improvement.  
  • Main point of contact for Digital Millennium Copy Right Act notices. Responsible for evaluating  all notices, establishing remediation and documenting actions taken. Maintains ongoing  management reporting of notices. Maintains DMCA/copyright websites and provides student awareness training.  
  • Responsible for compliance with Colorado HB 06-1157. Updates and maintains the FLC Cyber  security plan. Reports incidents to the State Chief Information Security Officer. Files updated Cyber Security Plan annually. Maintains documentation of compliance.  
  • Liaison to the FLC Police department for cyber investigations and departmental cyber  compliance.    
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Information Technology.  
  • Work Conditions 

Compensation  

Salary range is between $67,000 and $74,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
