Digital Media Faculty
Thomas seeks a faculty member in Digital Media effective Fall 2021 to join a vibrant and expanding College dedicated to student success. Thomas offers a range of majors in both business fields and career-oriented liberal arts programs. Students benefit from close working relationships with their faculty, and a wide range of internship opportunities both locally and through partnerships such as the Washington Center for Internships.
Candidates should be prepared to support the College’s new program in Digital Media, which includes two concentrations – Web Development and Multimedia Design – to provide students with the flexibility to pursue digital media courses that best fit their interests. This new program is part of a larger institutional initiative to expand programming for students at the intersection of business and technology applications and combines content from the Communications and Computer Science degrees to produce highly-qualified graduates prepared to succeed in digital media careers in a variety of sectors, as well as in graduate programs of related fields.
The preferred candidate will be prepared to offer courses in areas such as Media Design Technologies, Vector Graphics and Animation, Film and Video Production, and Graphic Design. Candidates will be encouraged to work collaboratively with faculty from computer science, communications and business to refine and deliver a curriculum with a focus on preparing students to analyze, design, and develop digital, interactive, and web-based media projects that meet user requirements and industry standards.
Candidates must be committed to teaching excellence, service to the College, community engagement, and professional development. Responsibilities for full time faculty include a 4/4 teaching load, academic advising, committee service, and course/program development. Teaching assignments may include online or hybrid courses.
Preference will be given to candidates with an appropriate terminal degree. Evidence of engaging teaching also is preferred, as well as familiarity with information technology and its implementation in the classroom.
