Position Summary:

WSLH PT provides a broad range of services to approximately 3000 laboratories throughout the US and abroad. Over 150 different services are offered and scheduled on multiple ship dates throughout the year. After testing simulated patient samples, laboratory customers return data to us via online entry. When data evaluation is complete, reports are sent to the customers. Scores from PT challenges are also sent to national accreditation agencies which use PT data to monitor customer performance. Significant monetary penalties and/or cease testing orders may be issued to laboratories demonstrating poor performance on PT challenges.

This position functions under general supervision of the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) Laboratory Improvement Division (LID) Operational Supervisor. The responsibilities for this position include managing PT sample inventory, preparation, and shipment, providing customer support, and assisting technical coordinators with a variety of duties.

This position must work independently to ensure samples are packaged and shipped on the published schedule. This position is responsible for ensuring the proper handling, packaging, external labeling, and documentation needed for delivery is maintained in accordance with written protocols, as well as DOT and IATA regulations. Training and certification to meet these regulations will be provided.

This position will use laboratory knowledge and experience to prepare proficiency testing products for shipping following established protocols.

This position will assist WSLH PT customer service and technical staff. This may include entering/editing demographic and tracking into the PT databases, creating/editing shipping forms, requesting shipping quotes and responding to customer questions either by email or phone or forwarding questions to the appropriate personnel.

Attention to detail, organizational skills, an ability to follow and give instructions in an organized and efficient fashion, a comfort level with computers and software, an ability to communicate electronically or verbally with internal and external customers, and good interpersonal skills are essential for this position.
