Position Summary:

The Computational Biologist Researcher will provide technical expertise to fundamental and/or applied scientific research working with genomics and next-generation sequencing data analysis under the direction of the principal investigator. The successful candidate will conduct integrated bioinformatics analysis of genomics data (transcriptomes, epigenomes and single-cell assays) and high-dimensional flow cytometry (CyTOF, Aurora Cytek) in collaboration with experimental scientists. The candidate will also have opportunities to develop new bioinformatics methods and pipelines as independent projects to answer the scientific questions in the field of cancer immunology.

The Dinh lab (www.dinhlab.oncology.wisc.edu) is passionate about studying the question of how the tumor microenvironment changes during cancer progression, before and after treatment. We follow systems and computational biology approaches leveraging high-dimensional data from multi-omics genome-wide (genomics and epigenomics) and single-cell assays. We develop and employ computational biology methods to mine publicly available data and in-house generated data for the specific questions we ask. We are a multi-disciplinary team and a part of the Department of Oncology/McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research and the Department of Biostatistics and Biomedical Informatics (BMI).

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required or master's degree preferred in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or relevant field.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

1 year of research lab experience is required and may include internships, in a research lab setting, for candidates with Bachelor's degree.

2 years of experience in working with genomics and next-generation sequencing data analysis preferred. Knowledge of cancer biology or immunology is a plus.
