Position Summary

New Research Technician position available immediately in the Popescu Laboratory at the University at Buffalo.
• The candidate will work collaboratively with graduate and undergraduate students
• Independently execute varied experimental procedures,
• Will have strong verbal and written communication skills to process research results and write summary reports,
• train and instruct support staff on methods and procedures,
• procure laboratory supplies, and will maintain laboratory reagents, stocks and equipment.

*Specific Laboratory Tasks Include:

• Order and maintain supply stocks
• Maintain inventories; general equipment calibration and up keep
• Participate in the orientation and training of new lab members
• Maintain compliance with safety policies and procedures

*Specific Research Tasks Include:

• Participate in weekly individual meeting with PI and as a group in team meetings
• Review relevant scientific literature in preparation for bench experiments
• Data acquisition and Analyses: Perform experiments involving cloning, protein chemistry, western blotting, and others
• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation (reports) of experimental set up and results.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will have expertise in tissue culture, molecular biology, and protein separation procedures.

The candidate must have strong written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills, and must be able to work in both independent and team-oriented settings.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior training in electrophysiology is preferred but not required.
