Description

The Department of History at the University of Chicago invites applications for an Assistant Instructional Professor of African History to begin July 1, 2021. The initial appointment is for a two-year term, renewable based upon a performance review.  The salary is competitive and includes benefits.  

The Assistant Instructional Professor will be responsible for teaching six courses each year, distributed over three quarters.  Four courses will normally be sections of African Civ or of another Core sequence, depending on current need. The remaining courses will be undergrad or undergrad/grad courses in African history/studies.

Qualifications

Candidates must have earned the PhD degree in History prior to the start date and have a record of undergraduate teaching experience.
