Job Description:
Adjunct instructor(s) needed to teach Biology of Nutrition and Fitness (SCI 140) for the Spring 2021 semester, January 25, 2021 - May 7, 2021. Two sections available:

SCI-140-01

  • Lecture: Tuesday and Friday 12:45pm-2:00pm
  • Lab: Thursday 9am-11am

SCI-140-02

  • Lecture: Tuesday and Friday 2:20pm-3:35pm
  • Lab: Thursday 12:00pm-2:00pm

This course introduces students to the biochemistry and physiology of nutrition and exercise. Emphasis will be placed on human body systems, such as musculoskeletal, digestive, respiratory and circulatory, and their relationship to nutrition and fitness. Students will also study the biochemistry of energy conversion as it relates to exercise physiology. Online laboratory sessions are designed to reinforce, by a hands-on approach, the principles discussed in lecture. Course includes two laboratory hours per week.

In response to Covid-19, both of these sections will be taught with online labs, but lecture may be in person or virtual, depending on instructor preference. Champlain College has adopted a flex-hybrid model of course delivery for the Spring 2021 semester. Flex-hybrid courses offer multiple delivery modes of instruction and allow for blended learning, "flipped classrooms" and includes both synchronous and asynchronous instruction if teaching remotely. Champlain's Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT) is available to help with course design and guidance on how to use Champlain's learning management system.

Requirements:
Educational requirements include a minimum of a Master's degree in a related field, PhD preferred. Certification as a Nutritionist/R.D. preferred. Experience teaching college level science courses is desirable but not required. Candidates residing in the state of Vermont will be given preference.
