Job Summary

Johnson County Community College is seeking instructors for Construction. This part-time position will teach non-credit students using classroom and practical shop experience in various levels of skills related to this subject in both residential and commercial applications. Topics include safety, hand/power tool use, math for the trades, print reading, material handling, & communication skills.

Responsibilities and Duties:
•Providing and supporting classroom instruction for the program.
•Maintaining a safe, orderly and up-to-date lab area for the application of multiple labs within the curriculum.
•Preparing course syllabi and instructional materials.
•Evaluating and reviewing students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
•Maintaining student discipline through effective classroom management.

Required Qualifications

-High School graduate or equivalent
-5 years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

-Ability to work day, evenings, and/or weekend hours
-Knowledge of construction safety and hand tools/power tools used in construction
-Understanding of the safe use of power and hand tools in lab setting
-AAS or Bachelor’s degree
-Construction Industry recognized Certification
-Experience working in a continuing education training environment
-Ability to efficiently use Microsoft office products, especially PowerPoint
