Job Summary
Assists the director in the development and implementation of all district and campus strategies, procedures and services related to academic advising and counseling on the campus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Coordinates Retention Initiatives and Programs including Early Alert ( TCC Academic Life Line Alert)
• Manages and supervises office and staff as delegated by Director, including scheduling staff, planning and implementation of regular staff meetings and communications
• Assists with Advising Case Management, including documentation of advisor assignments and visits
• Assists with Counseling Case Management for students on academic success plans, which includes students on academic and financial aid suspension
• Serves as counselor and provides individual or group counseling (crisis counseling, students on academic and financial aid suspension, etc.)
• Assists with the development and implementation of counselor and academic advisor training and training materials. Assists with ongoing professional staff development including teamwork, leadership, and communication skills
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College ( TCC )
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or directly related counseling area from a regionally accredited college or university
• Three (3) years counseling experience in higher education, K-12, or clinical setting with a minimum of one (1) year of experience in higher education
• Demonstrated experience in human relations and communication skills and ability to work with a diverse staff
• Experience with retention programs at the college or university level
Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
• Three (3) years management experience supervising employees, office administration and program management
• Credentialed in one or more of the following: Licensed Professional Counselor ( LPC ), National Certified Counselor ( NCC ), Licensed Clinical Psychologist ( LCP ), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist ( LMFT ), Licensed Master Social Worker ( LMSW ), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker ( LCSW )
• Counseling experience in a community college environment
