The Department of Urban and Regional Planning (URP) at the University of Florida invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track position in the URP graduate program with a focus on land use planning and regulation, housing, social justice, and/or resilience.  The expectation will be to teach four courses per year in the department’s core and/or specialization areas, conduct research commensurate with a tenure-track position, and engage in outreach and service consistent with the mission of the program. Incumbents have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers in the College’s centers, including the GeoPlan Center, the Shimberg Center for Housing, and the Florida Institute for Built Environment Resilience.  The candidate must have a Ph.D. in City and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.  Those who are ABD will be considered.  Appointment will be at the assistant professor level. Salary for the position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.


The Department of URP consists of a small, collegial faculty of fourteen full-time members. As one of two units in the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning, the Department of URP offers an undergraduate minor, accredited online and on-campus delivery of a Master’s degree in urban and regional planning, and a Ph.D. concentration.  URP has a strong relationship with the Department of Landscape Architecture as well as other units in the College of Design, Construction and Planning (DCP). DCP also offers degree programs in Architecture, Construction Management, Interior Design, Historic Preservation and Sustainability. Qualifications *

Required: A Ph.D. in urban and regional planning, landscape architecture, or a related field. ABD will be considered.
