Salary Basis: 12 month

Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for the application of GAAP and GASB standards to accurately plan and prepare the financial statements for the University. This position will also compile and prepare financial reports for state and federal government, National Collegiate Athletic Association, Mississippi Institution of Higher Learning Board of Trustees, the University President and Vice President, and other agencies as required on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual basis in accordance with General Accounting Standards Board. This position acts as the liaison between external auditors and the University.


Qualifications:
Education & Training:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field and experience in progressive financial reporting responsibility.

Education & Training: Bachelor Degree in Accounting required

Experience: Requires at least five years of experience in Governmental Accounting, including three years supervisory experience. Special Skills & Knowledge. Knowledge of Governmental budgeting. Effective time management and communication skills.

Master’s Degree in Accounting or related field, or CPA or CFA license, and two years of progressive responsibility in a higher education environment.


Salary:
12 monthCommensurate with experience, qualifications, and university’s resources.

Work is primarily self-initiated and reviewed in terms of meeting goals and objectives. This position requires the ability to make sound decisions and recommendations quickly in a very complex environment. Maintain the integrity of financial reporting data. Develops and monitors the University’s system of internal control for operating effectiveness. Provides financial reports and information for internal management and departments.
