The History Department at Angelo State University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Twentieth Century United States Civil Rights history, with specializations in the Latinx or African American Civil Rights movements, beginning in Fall 2021.

Typical Duties/Job Duties

The successful candidate is expected to be devoted to quality teaching with clear, high standards and to be an active member of Angelo State’s academic community. A tenure-track assistant professor of History is expected to teach four courses a semester, typically three sections of U.S. survey (both halves) and one advanced course. Tenure track faculty are also expected to be engaged professionally with their disciplines.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Specialization in 20th Century United States Civil Rights history, with additional specializations in the Latinx or African American Civil Rights movements. The ideal candidate will also be able to teach both halves of the U.S. History survey and contribute to the Mexican American Studies minor, which is housed in the History department.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD in History or related field.
