Associate Professor - Department of English and Foreign Languages

Oakwood University is seeking an Associate Professor responsible for teaching courses in the Department of English and Foreign Languages Department. Responsible for developing courses in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (“TESOL”) for the Department’s TESOL concentration. Prepares course materials, delivers lectures, leads classroom discussions. Advises students regarding their career paths. Engages in scholarly activity that will enhance professional growth, research and teaching effectiveness. Nurtures the development of language literacy in Oakwood University’s students. Provides a thorough understanding of English as a second language. Responsible for advising English and Foreign Languages majors. Contributes to teaching and developing online courses. Facilitates Biblical foundations in teaching and promotes the harmonious development of mind, body and spirit. Engages in service opportunities that support the institutional mission of service.
This position requires a Ph.D. in English with a concentration in Linguistics and two (2) years of teaching experience (part-time or full-time) in English, Linguistics or related courses at the college/university level. Must have demonstrated record of high-quality research published in academic-related publications. Must have prior experience teaching TESOL and English as a second language
