Assistant Professor Position in Counseling Psychology
The Department of Educational Studies at Purdue University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant level in its APA-accredited Counseling Psychology program, beginning fall 2021. We are seeking applicants whose scholarship is in the areas of racial identity development, racism, racial trauma and healing, liberation psychology, or a closely related area. We are interested in applicants who are interested in our expansion plans in telemental health and who can contribute to the College of Education’s mission of effecting positive change in a diverse society in the areas of discovery, teaching, and engagement. Maintain an active research program with a record of, or potential to attract, external funding;
- Teach courses in counseling psychology and supervise practicum (typical load is 2 courses/semester);
- Advise doctoral students with diverse background, share program leadership, and provide department, college, and university service;
- Demonstrate interest in and commitment to contributing to the diversity and social justice mission of the program and the College;
- Participate in the development of telemental health initiative or the future master’s program.
The Purdue Counseling Psychology program is dynamic with: selective admissions; small, full-time cohorts; collegial faculty, and; exciting opportunities to partner with local agencies, schools, and on-campus initiatives. According to the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, Purdue University is a “very high research activity” campus.
- Hold an earned doctorate in Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
- Be licensed or license-eligible as a Psychologist in the State of Indiana.
- Demonstrate a history of scholarly productivity and either a record of, or the potential to attract, extramural funding.
Candidates who are more advanced in their faculty careers can be considered for a shortened window toward tenure, if they wish and if applicable.
