Primary Purpose
The Executive Director of Development will be responsible for the
creation, implementation and supervision of the major, planned,
corporate and foundation fundraising programs in preparation for a
comprehensive capital campaign. Reporting to the Vice President of
University Advancement, the Executive Director of Development will
supervise all major, planned and corporate gift officers. The
position will develop creative and effective strategies for major
gift funding and refine metrics for measuring success for frontline
fundraisers. Working closely with the Vice President of University
Advancement, the Executive Director will set specific goals and
objectives for Idaho State’s philanthropic success and collaborate
with the University President, Vice Presidents, Deans and other
campus partners to enhance ISU’s fundraising
priorities.
Direct reports will include eight (8) major gift officers, the
Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations and the Director of
Planned Giving.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for all aspects of major gift fundraising and focus to the Office of Development.
- Direct and oversee all activities in the Office of Development to develop and achieve annual goals; including budgeting, planning and professional development.
- Enhance resources and opportunities available to faculty, staff and students by developing and implementing fundraising programs aligned with University priorities.
- Remain current and proficient on technical and tax code matters
affecting donors and charitable giving.
Maintain a small portfolio of donors and prospects.
Train, supervise and support frontline fundraisers on prospect management policies, procedures, metrics and strategies. - Ensure the effective and productive management of major gift prospects.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Coordinate special projects/tasks and provide assistance as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least five (5) years of successful major gift fundraising and development experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- A proven record of success and experience in leading a major gifts team.
- Advanced degree.
