Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director-Diversity & Inclusion.

The Director for Diversity and Inclusion is responsible for all aspects of management and oversight of the Office of Diversity Affairs, including interacting with students, faculty housestaff and staff, developing strategy, planning and coordinating numerous diversity initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the Associate Dean for Diversity & Academic Affairs in developing and implementing programs and strategies that promote diversity and inclusion as it relates to recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups, including faculty, housestaff and students.
  • Assist with the Development of an annual strategic plan.
  • Develop, implement and manage programs to enhance diversity: a. UME. Supervise and enhance recruitment and community building/engagement efforts and student support programming which includes screening, recruitment events, advisement, mentoring, leadership and professional development efforts, and projects spearheaded by the UME Committee on Diversity & Inclusion and the Diversity Executive Committee. b. GME. Supervise and enhance residency community-building and engagement efforts, including projects spearheaded by the GME Committee on Diversity & Inclusion. c. Faculty. Supervise and enhance faculty retention and engagement efforts including the Diversity Ambassadors program and the Womens Initiative
  • Advocate for institutional policies and practices across the School of Medicine that further a climate of inclusion.
  • Directly supervise staff in the Office of Diversity Affairs, including performance review, development and goal setting
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean on identifying and developing grant opportunities
  • Develop methods of evaluation and assessment of programs to track progress of the activities of the Office of Diversity Affairs

  • Develop and manage the office's budget. Plan and forecast anticipated changes and new needs based on office goals annually
  • Oversee web and social media presence and ensure visibility of NYUs diverse and inclusive community

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Masters degree in Educational Administration, Public Policy, Health Administration or related field.
Three or more years experience in an academic graduate institution interacting with students, faculty and a diverse constituency preferred.
Time spent in supervisory capacity.
Experience serving as a representative of senior management to the broader organization and other stakeholders.
Excellent presentation, networking and verbal and written communications skills require; advanced project management skills including the ability to adapt to a changing environment managing a wide variety of projects

Preferred Qualifications:
Five or more years experience in an academic graduate institution interacting with students, faculty and a diverse constituency preferred.
Experience with counseling students

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
