The Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications at Pennsylvania State University invites applications for an advanced assistant or associate professor position in public relations. The appointee will be a faculty member in the Department of Advertising and Public Relations, with starting date in Fall 2021. The appointee is expected to teach introductory and advanced public relations courses, engage in active research, and provide professional and academic services. Opportunities to teach graduate courses and advise graduate students are also available in a college-wide graduate program.

The Department of Advertising and Public Relations offers both resident and online degree programs. Applicants with experience and/or interest in teaching online classes as well as digital public relations and ethics classes are highly desirable. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in communications or a related discipline, with demonstrated potential for active research. Relevant professional industry experience will be a strong plus.

The Bellisario College is one of the largest accredited communication programs in the nation. It is home to the Arthur W. Page Center for Integrity in Public Communication, a national leader in the study and advancement of ethics and responsibility in corporate communication and public relations. Faculty with relevant scholarly interests will have ample opportunities to engage in research and outreach initiatives supported by the center. The university and college have a strong commitment to achieving diversity among faculty and staff. We encourage applications from members of underrepresented groups.

Applicants must complete an online application and upload a cover letter, a current CV, and a list of at least three references. The deadline to submit application is November 10, 2020. Please direct questions to the search committee chair, Dr. Fuyuan Shen, at fshen@psu.edu.
