St. Charles Community College is located just west of St. Louis, nestled in the heart of growing St. Charles County. Established in 1986, SCC is a public, comprehensive two-year community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs in the arts, business, sciences and career-technical fields. SCC also provides workforce training and community-based personal and professional development as well as cultural, recreational and entertainment opportunities.

We are seeking a part-time, project-based Health Occupations Instructor for the upcoming spring 2021 semester who will instruct high school students in health occupations skills to attain personal and career goals and assist in developing programs that provide opportunities for entry-level employment in healthcare.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Teaches health occupations high school students the necessary skills to attain personal and career goals. Participates in health occupations curriculum development and evaluation. Manages clinical site placement as appropriate for assigned curriculum. Participates in campus and department activities to promote programs and support clinical partnerships. Assists in selection and development of instructional materials for students. Assists program coordinator with planning, developing, and executing programs related to healthcare. Assists program coordinators and instructors to evaluate and guide student progress.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Requires a degree in nursing (Associate's, Diploma, or Bachelor's) with at least 3-years' experience in long-term care and 1-year experience in long-term care education.  Must be self-directed, able to handle multiple projects at a time, and able to work with minimal supervision under the direction of the program coordinator.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook for sending emails with attachments. Knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing healthcare personnel and their training. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Instructor should demonstrate continuous attention to detail.

Must maintain current undisciplined MO RN license, MO CNA Instructor/Examiner Certificate, MO CMT Instructor/Examiner Certificate.

Must be certified by the State of Missouri to teach the program. If eligible, the course can be completed online in 16 hours.  The cost of the class is $250. To be eligible, you must be an RN with long term care experience.  You must receive approval from the Department of Health and Senior Services prior to registering for the course.  For more information, please contact Sue Propper at spropper@stchas.edu.
