Position Summary:
A Research Specialist is needed to work in Dr. Cynthia Carlsson's group to coordinate the AHEAD 3-45 clinical study investigating an anti-amyloid antibody in individuals with preclinical diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease.
The Carlsson research group is affiliated with the Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC), which conducts research in the field of aging and dementia, and seeks to establish effective prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's Disease (AD). The ADRC actively partners with individuals from diverse underrepresented communities to identify and address health disparities in diagnosis and management of dementia.
The School of Medicine and Public Health, and the Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center have a deep and profound commitment to diversity both as an end in itself, but also as a valuable means for eliminating health disparities. Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree required; healthcare or biological sciences area preferred.
Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
Two or more years of experience in human subjects research required. Prior experience coordinating a randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled clinical trial is strongly preferred. Preference may also be given to candidates with experience working in a clinical health care role that required patient interaction and/or experience working with individuals from diverse racial and ethnic communities.
Additional Information:
This position requires the ability to work in a hospital setting, at times observing blood collection and lumbar puncture procedures. Candidates must also have ability and willingness to work respectfully with an older and diverse population at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Madison VA Hospital, and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills preferred. Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically in written and verbal forms with research sponsors, faculty, researchers, participants and staff at all levels required. Excellent problem solving, organizational and computer skills required. A high level of professionalism is required. Knowledge of University administrative policies and procedures as well as federal human subjects protection regulations highly desirable.
The applicant's prior work experience should demonstrate professionalism, reliability, attention to detail, good social skills. The applicant should have the ability to multi task and work independently in a face-paced environment.
Minimum travel is required to for recruitment efforts. Must provide own transportation or a valid driver's license for Car Fleet usage is necessary.
Hire will be subject to criminal and Caregiver background check requirements.
