Job Summary

Provide learner-centered instruction for basic literacy and math through high school equivalency/college readiness skills in reading, writing, math computation, applied math, science and social studies in preparation for taking the 2014 GED® exam. Create individual education plans for each learner and monitor progress toward passing the 2014 GED® exam. Instruct students one-on-one and in small groups. Guide and supervise ongoing study. Engage community volunteers to assist with one-on-one instruction with learners. Create reports and maintain records. Participate in professional development events.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Three or more years experience in field of Education
• Strong math and English skills
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
• Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping
• Demonstrated ability to improve learner academic skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Elementary or Secondary Education degree
• K-12 teaching experience
• Demonstrated ability to coach and instruct adult basic education learners
• Understanding of the unique needs of adult basic education students
• Demonstrated ability to create individual education plans designed to prepare adult learners to pass the 2014 GED® exam
• Previous experience teaching high school equivalency skills to adult learners, preferably GED® preparation
