Job Description Summary

Responsible for supervising automotive maintenance, directing subordinate automotive mechanics and resolving routine and complex engine repairs and maintenance tasks. Performs preventive maintenance service, diagnostic and electronic services and electric welding, repairs forklifts, power grounds maintenance
equipment, front end loaders and snow removal equipment plus maintains a fleet of motor vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. One to two years of college credit (30 credit hours is equivalent to one year) or equivalent formal training in related field.
  2. Combination of education and related experience for a total of four to five years.

  1. Supervise and evaluate staff as required
  2. Coordinate all preventative maintenance and repairs of the College President’s vehicle
  3. Research parts, maintain accurate maintenance records and performs road testing.
  4. Participate in regular meetings with the Director of Facilities Operations (Trades) to provide updates on the vehicle fleet and collaborate to enhance vehicle maintenance operations.
  5. Perform preventative maintenance, as well as, major and minor repairs of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles such as police cars, light duty trucks, 2 dump trucks in excess of 10,000 lbs, lawn and turf maintenance equipment, snow removal equipment and other small powered equipment, including electronic diagnostics.
  6. Preserve manufacturer warranties by adhering to timely preventative maintenance schedules in accord with manufacturer recommendations and automotive industry best practices and standards.
  7. Respond within prescribed time frames to work orders and provide timely feedback to the initiator.
  8. Utilize computerized and hand-held equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions with all systems.
  9. Maintain appropriate inventory of often used replacement parts
  10. Maintain maintenance shop in clean, well-organized and professional manner
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned


Job Requirements

  1. Must be available to work Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work schedule subject to change based on the needs of the department.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  3. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
