The School of Continuing and Professional Studies (CUSCS), founded
in 1965, is a self-financing extension unit of the University with
its mission to provide quality lifelong education to the community
of all ages. The School offers a wide variety of full-time and
part-time post-secondary, professional and continuing education
programmes and general courses in diversified disciplines.
Reporting to Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) while working closely
with other members of the senior management, the appointee has
oversight responsibility for the development and operation of the
School. The Director must foster effective allocation and
utilisation of human and financial resources of the School;
maintain cost effective operations and programmes within budget;
ensure strong enrolments and healthy financial position; supervise
and nurture a sizeable internal workforce; develop and manage
essential internal and external working relationships and
partnerships that safeguard the success of the School; and support
other key university functions.
The appointee should possess a higher degree, preferably a doctoral
degree, and substantial management experience at senior level in
professional and continuing education. The appointee must be
visionary. He/She should have the competence and leadership to
direct the strategic planning, management and development of the
School including collaboration with reputable institutions
internationally and industry partners locally, and delivery of
quality service & programmes. He/She must have excellent
communication skills with high level of proficiency in both English
and Chinese (including Putonghua).
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to
three years, renewable subject to mutual agreement. The University
reserves the right to fill the post by invitation.
