Founding Faculty Member, Surveying Engineering Technology, Tenure-Track Faculty (open rank)

Rowan University invites applications for an innovative educator to lead a new Surveying Engineering Technology Program. Applicants should have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, an established record of publication, and be able to meet the criteria for the rank of associate professor or full professor.

This is a new career-oriented program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Surveying Engineering Technology degree. The program will be seeking ABET accreditation. This four-year degree is the educational requirement for licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of New Jersey. The program is structured as a joint in partnership with Rowan College of South Jersey at the Gloucester County campus.

Primary responsibilities of this position include strong leadership to build this new program, seek and maintain ABET accreditation, and develop ties with local and regional industry. The successful applicant is expected to teach courses in the program and develop strategies to attract students into the program including new freshmen as well as those in the surveying, geography or engineering field seeking a second degree. The successful applicant will also be expected to develop an assessment strategy to bring the program through the accreditation process, review and modify the curriculum to maintain its currency, and attract new faculty to the program as it grows.

Qualifications: A terminal degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Geography, Engineering or Engineering Technology and licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor are required.

Start date: The anticipated starting date for this position is January 1, 2021
