Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Department of Applied Health invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Kinesiology (Exercise Science/Physiology).  Responsibilities for the Assistant Professor include: (a) teaching/mentoring undergraduate and graduate students preparing for careers in exercise science; (b) developing and maintaining an active research agenda; and (c) demonstrating a commitment to professional, university, and community service.

Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree with a specialization in exercise physiology, exercise science, integrative physiology or related field. Ability to teach a variety of classes related to exercise science.  Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability or potential to secure internal and external funding and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and members of the university and local community.  The department seeks to attract culturally and academically diverse candidates who are committed to a welcoming environment that serves all individuals.  ABD candidates may be considered.  

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred area of research should have a focus on human research and interests may include a variety of areas related to exercise science or related field.  A demonstrated interest in working with and teaching diverse students is preferred. Terms of Appointment
Continuing tenure-track position for nine months.  Summer teaching assignments may be available, depending upon enrollment and funding.  Beginning date of appointment is August 15, 2021.
