Job Description:

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant and inclusive educational community, and have a desire and ability to work with a diverse population.

The purpose of the position is to assist with the inclusion of students in the Transitional Scholars Program, a program for students with disabilities, in college course work and campus life.

Note: MassBay is currently operating remotely. All support for students in the program is remote and coaches must be comfortable with technology.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Support the inclusion of students with developmental disabilities;
  • Attend classes with students;
  • Serve as academic tutor when needed;
  • Assist students in accessing college services and resources;
  • Encourage appropriate college behavior;
  • Foster student independence; including help with social skills and functional life skills
  • Help students with time management and executive functioning skills;
  • Work as a member of a team, with the ability to communicate with faculty and staff
  • Send weekly email updates to supervisors regarding student progress;
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding educational information and records;
  • Provide coverage of other Educational Coaches in the event of an absence;
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required;
  • Ability and interest to work with students with disabilities;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships;
  • Ability to work with college students in a fast-paced environment;
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task;
  • Willingness to obtain additional training;
  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
  • Experience working in a diverse environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with under-served students.



Additional Information:

Salary Range: $26.00 per hour, up to 18 hours per week

Classification: Part-time, temporary

Source of Funding: State Appropriation
