Bard College, a highly selective liberal arts college located in Northern Dutchess County, New York, invites nominations and applications for a part-time Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach. This is a ten month position with a competitive salary reporting to the Head Coach and also to the Director of Athletics. The purpose of the position is to support the College’s Intercollegiate Program with the intention of maintaining the program within the guidelines of the NCAA Division III and additional conference affiliations.

Collegiate playing experience is required, coaching and recruiting experience is preferred. Defensive experience preferred, but all positional backgrounds will be considered. Duties include assisting the head coach in all aspects of the coordination of the program including practice planning, scouting, game planning, recruiting, strength and conditioning and conducting the program within the philosophies of the Department of Athletics. A flexible work schedule is required. Bard is a member of the NCAA Division III and the Liberty League.   • Consults with Head Coach regarding daily practice plans and training assignments.
  • Communicates with Head Coach regarding evaluations of student-athletes and assists with the implementation of necessary strategies to maintain the program in a competitive manner.
  • Is capable of solely running practice in the event the Head Coach is unavailable due to illness or personal emergency.
  • Prepares team for competitions related to uniform inventory, sports medicine items and other necessary team travel items (or confirms with team manager).
  • Oversees and maintains equipment inventory with team manager.
  • Assists Head Coach in areas of competition plans, recruitment of prospective student-athletes, and academic monitoring.
  • Is responsible for organizing related documentation, i.e. opponents schedules, rosters and scouting reports.
  • Displays commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and ethical conduct as per the NCAA Constitution which are consistent with Bard College’s educational mission and goals.
  • Adheres to additional policies and procedures contained in the Bard College Coaches’ Handbook.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience as a player or coach is highly recommended. CPR/AED and First Aid certification is required. Certification opportunities are available.
