Job Summary
This is a limited term appointment through September 30, 2021. Continuation of employment is contingent upon available funding.
The Research Associate II assists the Principal Investigator (PI) and Project Manager (PM) in planning, maintaining, and completing the evaluation of community-based fatherhood programs supported by the Alabama Dept. of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention. The position involves the discovery of new knowledge, techniques, and concepts which require Master’s level scientific/research knowledge, skills, and abilities following relevant policies, procedures, regulations and laws, and coordination with program staff at funded community-based agencies.
Essential Functions
• Assists in the development of complex project proposals, evaluations, plans, and protocols for academic and research related programs.
• Conducts site visits virtually or face-to-face to train partner agencies on evaluation and data collection methods and processes.
• Coordinates, creates, and produces the tangibles of the research to include the scope of work and deliverables of the evaluation project. Assesses, updates and maintains the protocols, equipment, materials, and software needed to complete the project.
• Collects, enters, and oversees relevant databases to ensure accurate and accessible records on program outreach and outcomes.
• Manages, compiles, cleans, and assists with analyzing data.
• Documents results and observations of the data collection process in writing on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Coordinates with the PI and PM to prepare research results for presentation to funder and other stakeholders; assists with preparation of results for presentation to the funding agency Board, the partner agencies, and at conferences to include written results, reports, and facilitated discussions.
• May instruct student research assistants in tasks related to the project.
• Completes other relevant duties/tasks as assigned.

Minimum Skills and Abilities
Ability to assess situations quickly and effectively and have strong interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate and collaborate with evaluation team and grantee personnel.
Minimum Technology Skills
• Knowledge of and ability to effectively use software used in statistical data analyses ( SPSS, MPlus, etc.).
• Knowledge of and ability to effectively use Microsoft Office computer software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Minimum License and Certifications
Desired Qualifications
• 2-4 years experience in the creation, management, and oversight of databases that contain sensitive information.
• Knowledge and ability to run statistical analysis.
