General Description of Position

Under the general supervision of the Dean of Students and the Career Services Specialist, the Student Services Technician is responsible for providing services, information, support and guidance to students, staff and the public in the areas of Career Services, Registration and Records, Admissions, Financial Aid, and general Student Services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide Customer Service
Deliver positive, welcoming assistance to prospective and current students and guests, faculty, staff, visitors and the general public. Handle telephone inquiries on a multi-line telephone system.

Participate and Function as a Member of the Student Affairs Team
Participate as a member of the Career Services team with cross training opportunities in Registration, Admissions, and Financial Aid. Participate in ongoing training in these functional areas. Provide general College information to students, staff and the public. Prepare correspondence, reports, and division documents and/or respond to telephone and in-person inquiries as assigned.

Career Services Support
Maintain/update alumni data, employer information, career services and graduate records, files, and databases. Assist Career Services Specialist with coordinating support services for data entry of job listings, posting of listings, mailings to students, and notification to Program Directors/Chairs on a timely basis. Assist with preparation of SCC Graduate Report. Assist with coverage of the online job board, SCC Job Connect, including approving new accounts, posting jobs, expiring job posts, and emailing job alerts. Assist with coordination of job fairs, career fairs, and alumni events as directed including planning, promotion, registration, implementation, and evaluation. Prepare mailings to employers, advisors and alumni to notify them of graduate information and other related functions. Receive download of graduate information, prepare graduate information sheets, and assist in dissemination of information to Program Directors/Chairs and graduates.

Registration Services
Monitor, update and complete registration set-up for new and current students. Provide information about course availability, prerequisite requirements, course descriptions, the College catalog and college policies. Register both credit and non-credit students. Assist with room scheduling for credit and non-credit courses. Maintain and update student records: Update student information such as address changes and contact information. Maintain student records in accordance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures including FERPA guidelines.

Admissions Services
Provides applicants for admissions with information regarding College admissions and specific program requirements, deadlines and information. Serves as a point of contact for students regarding the admissions process and transitioning to college. Assists in processing of prospects and applications.

Financial Aid Services
Provide information about the Financial Aid process and policies. Provide new and current students, staff, guests and visitors with pertinent financial aid information. Understands and can explain financial aid policies such as Satisfactory Academic Progress and Maximum Timeframe to students.

Operate Office Machines
Operate personal computer including printer; fax machine; copy machine; calculator; telephone with voice mail; software including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Access, Excel, web browsers, Ellucian Colleague UI, Informer, and admissions software.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Associates Degree or two (2) years of post-secondary education in the area of office technology, business, computer technology, communications, education or related field.
2. One (1) year work experience in an educational setting, business office, financial institution or related student services area such as admissions, financial aid or registration.

Desired Qualifications

1. Experience working in a student services office at a post-secondary level, especially in the areas of career services, registration and records, admissions, and/or financial aid.
2. Proficient skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access, and Excel.

Salary

$16.33/hr
