General Description of Position

Under the direction of the Director for Adult Education, the Assistant Director, will assit in the administration and management of the Adult Basic Education/General Equivalency Diploma/English as a Second Language ( ABE / ASE / GED Prep) program for the Lincoln area, overseeing part-time staff in the Lincoln office. Conduct with interviews, orientation, and registration of potential students. Plan class schedules for ABE / ASE / GED Prep classes and supervise adjunct faculty. Assistant Director will be responsible for the research, development, funding, approval and implementation of new Adult Education programs.

This is a grant funded position which is subject to renewal December 31, 2022.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop and Deliver Course Offerings

Work closely with faculty and staff to develop ABE / ASE curriculum. Develop and maintain accuracy of syllabi and course outlines. Provide leadership and direction to staff to ensure quality in the Adult Education General Equivalency Diploma program. Advise and place students into the adult education program. Work closely with support staff to complete necessary paperwork. Order equipment, textbooks, and arrange for instructional support and training for Lincoln faculty. Monitor and track ordering for the AE/ GED program in Lincoln.

Monitor AE/ GED / ESL Personnel
Assist in interviewing, hiring, orienting, and evaluating adjunct faculty. When necessary make arrangements for substitute instructors and/or cover classes as needed.

Budgeting and Reporting
Assist Adult Education Director with developing and monitoring budgets using sound fiscal practices. Monitor and justify expenditures. Assist with monthly and quarterly claims for both contracts and the Department of Education. Submit reports in a timely and thorough manner.

Develop and Improve Program
Work with the Adult Education Director to develop new programs within Adult Education to better serve students’ career pathways in accordance with the Department of Education funding.

Marketing and Public Relations
Work with Director and Assistants Directors in planning and developing promotional material for Lincoln and 15 county service area. Assist in recruiting and providing information about Adult Education program and GED® and ESL services, which includes representing the program at community events.

Testing and Assessment
Provide CASAS assessment for students individually and in orientations.

Promote and support the College’s diversity goals; promote/support Access, Fair Employment, EEO, Equity and Diversity programs.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree
2. Two years’ work experience in an educational setting or adult education/training.

Desired Qualifications

1. Master’s degree
2, Certifications, coursework, etc. in education, adult education, project management.
3. Experience teaching adult education, math, English, or English as a Second Language.
4. Experience in project and budget management.
5. Three or more years experience in ESL or GED .

Salary

$43,500/yr

  8. * Normal work hours for this position are scheduled by the College between 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, requiring a minimum of a 40-hour workweek. Special projects, campus events, assignments, and periodic increases in workload may require an increase in work hours on evenings or weekends. This is a full time regular position based on a 260-day work calendar. Regular travel throughout the 15-County area will be required.
