Join the Portland Community College team! The Contract & Grant Accounting Department is seeking a talented grant Accountant III. The grant Accountant III serves at the Downtown Center, conveniently located next to light rail, downtown waterfront, and many restaurant and retail options.

Under the direction of the Contract & Grant Accounting Manager, the grant Accountant III applies federal, state and local laws, regulations, and policies to manage various grants and contracts that support the College's mission of equitable student success. The grant Accountant III will have a specific emphasis on Portland Community College Foundation grants that support the College. The grant Accountant III will also collaborate with departmental managers by providing technical information regarding accounting principles and the College's accounting software. Additionally, the grant Accountant III will coordinate district wide initiatives such as: a risk based annual monitoring and compliance plan, federal grant testing initiatives related to Single Audit, and federal time and effort certification.

Candidate Profile

These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.
Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications.

Knowledge of and experience applying federal and state laws, rules and regulations to grants and contracts, while keeping precise records;
Experience preparing financial reporting to federal/state agencies to support grant reimbursement;
Experience providing technical information to departmental managers and other staff regarding college accounting requirements and college accounting software;
Experience preparing and/or reviewing complex budgets;
Experience with government/non-profit fund accounting;
Experience developing and coordinating a risk based annual monitoring/compliance plan;
Experience with planning, leading, directing, and managing projects;
Experience preparing necessary Single Audit schedules, financial data, or resolving issues as needed;
Experience coordinating with project investigators and grant administrators to submit timely reports and ensure grant compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (experience performing the duties described above may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis).

Three years’ experience working in governmental, municipal or fund accounting required, including working with preparation of comprehensive annual financial reports and federal reporting requirements.

Demonstrated experience coordinating and overseeing complex financial projects and audits; working with PC and mainframe computer systems, hardware, and supporting software applications; and experience working with computerized general ledgers and accounting systems.

Position Grade 5 Starting Salary Expectations $55,550 to $59,504 (Step 3); based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Position Grade Salary Range $55550 to $96321 Annual Salary FTE 1 PCC Benefits

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)
- Starts at 13.33 hours of vacation leave per month (additional vacation hours with years of services)
