Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
The Rehabilitation Research and Training Center ( RRTC ), School of Education, is seeking to hire a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to implement Research Study Protocols as directed by the Principal Investigator and/or Project Director. Responsibilities include:
-Collecting participant data and conducting analysis.
-Assisting with product development including replication manuals, brochures, fact sheets, etc.
-Assisting with training, technical assistance, and other knowledge translation activities.
-Conducting Discovery/Assessment process and implementing situational assessments for individuals with disabilities.
-Engaging in business development designed to establish business partnerships for the promotion of employment of individuals with disabilities in integrated community settings.
-Assisting individuals with disabilities in performing their job duties to meet employer standards.
Minimum Hiring Standards
-Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology or other relevant field, or a combination of relevant education, training, and experience required.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-Computer experience using Microsoft Windows software packages, and experience with MS Office.
-Ability to build community partnerships.
-Proven ability to carry out job duties in a professional manner, with a positive outlook and approach.
-Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU .
Preferred Hiring Standards
Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably in areas of community-integrated competitive employment.
