Job Description:

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Specialist is a 12-month full-time professional/managerial position. The CTE Specialist will perform highly responsible administrative duties requiring an extensive knowledge of the educational programs, support services, and additional resources available to aid in the technical skill attainment, retention, program completion, and job placement of students enrolled in Career and Technical Education programs. The CTE Specialist will work closely with College departments and community-based organizations to assist in identifying resources available to students, assist in distributing support services to students including scholarships and funds for child care and transportation support, assist students with resume writing and job readiness as well as other needs in order for students to achieve job placement, consistently and accurately input student industry credentials in the Student Record System, maintain appropriate industry credential records and processes student credential reimbursement requests, identify and provide services to targeted special populations in technical skill obtainment, retention, completion, earning industry credentials and placement, and assist with the identification of programs with low placement rates and coordinates with academic departments to provide resources to assist those students with gaining employment in their respective field. This position reports to the Director of Career and Technical Education Student Resources. This position is grant-funded.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or a career and technical education program. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Prefer graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in education, counseling, or a career and technical education program.

SALARY RANGE: $33,730.00
