Working Title: Director, Student Support Services Official Title: Director, Educational Support Services/s Employment Class: Limited FTE: 1.0 Compensation: $60,000 - $65,000 FLSA Status: Exempt Terms of Employment: Limited Position Summary:
Oversee the UW Oshkosh traditional Student Support Services (SSS) program and Student Support Services STEM (SSS STEM) program. The traditional SSS program serves 300 UW Oshkosh students annually. The SSS STEM program serves an additional 120 students on an annual basis. SSS students are first-generation college students (parents have not earned a baccalaureate degree) and/or students whose family income meets federally established guidelines. Students with a documented disability may also be served by the programs.
The goal of SSS is to increase the college persistence and graduation rates of the students it serves. SSS is one of the U.S. Department of Education funded TRIO programs. The traditional SSS program has been active on the UW Oshkosh campus since 1975. The SSS STEM program was funded in 2015. The SSS/SSS STEM Director is responsible for the effective management and supervision of the programs to meet program objectives and to ensure compliance with program and institution regulations and policies. The SSS/SSS STEM Director reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Support and Inclusive Excellence.
During the academic year, evening hours on a weekly basis may be required. Evening hours during the summer and weekend hours during both the academic year and summer on an occasional basis are required.

- Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Human Services, Social Sciences, or related field
- Five years’ experience managing educational programs
- Professional experience working with students who are first-generation and/or who come from limited-income families
- Strong communication, leadership, and management skills
- Ability to collaborate with campus community (including administration, faculty, academic staff, and students) and off-campus stake-holders
- Successful experience in writing and managing grants
- Ability to design, implement, and evaluate educational programs
- Expertise in assessment methods
- Expertise in analyzing data and in the preparation and presentation of reports demonstrating program outcomes as requested by the sponsoring institution and funding source
- Experience with hiring, training, and managing staff
- Experience with developing and overseeing program budgets in accordance with institutional and funding source regulations, policies, and procedures
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Professional experience with and/or demonstrated knowledge of Student Support Services and/or TRIO programs
- Knowledge of evidence-based research and high-impact practices relating to student success as it relates to the retention and graduation of first-generation, low-income college students
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and characteristics of a diverse population of students
- Professional experience working with higher education programs
- Familiarity of resources typically found on a college campus
- Technology proficiency: experience with Content Management Systems (CMS); data analysis software; online learning platforms; and word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software programs
