Recreational Therapy – Open Rank Tenure Track Faculty Position:
Assistant / Associate / Full

The School of Education and Human Development within the College of Arts, Sciences & Education at Florida International University invites applications for a nine-month full time, tenure track open rank faculty position in Recreational Therapy beginning Fall 2021.

1) Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Recreational Therapy.
2) Develop and maintain a scholarly research agenda, mentor and guide undergraduate and graduate student research, and seek external funding to support line of research (all areas of expertise will be considered).
3) Provide service to the program, school, college, university, and profession.
4) Potential for program leadership of the Recreational Therapy tracks.

Applicants must have earned a doctorate in Recreational Therapy / Therapeutic Recreation or related discipline. A master's degree with at least 18 credit hours of recreational therapy / therapeutic recreation graduate course work is required if the doctorate is in another discipline. CTRS certification is required. ABD applicants will be considered for this position, and must have earned their terminal degree by the start date.

Rank and salary will commensurate with rank, professional background and experience.

The Recreational Therapy track lies within the Recreation and Sport Management degree program. The Recreational Therapy tracks are currently offered on-campus, and online at the BS, MS, and accelerated bachelor’s and master’s pathway levels. The program is located in the School of Education and Human Development, in the College of Arts, Sciences & Education. Our Recreational Therapy program is going through an exciting phase of growth and evolution as a new standalone B.S. in Rehabilitation and Recreational Therapy has been developed and is in the process of being implemented Spring of 2021. 

We are looking for a dynamic individual with the vision to help the recreational therapy program further advance its online and on-campus curricula at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to actively participate in community engagement and in student recruitment and retention.
