YORK UNIVERSITY is helping shape new generations of global thinkers who will define tomorrow. Our unwavering commitment to excellence reflects a rich diversity of perspectives and a strong sense of social responsibility and equity that set us apart. We seek candidates whose research, creative activities, teaching, and leadership will enhance the diversity of existing offerings in AMPD, and who will support a multicultural and international student community that is passionate about the future of the arts. As an internationally recognized research university, York’s 11 Faculties and 27 research centres have well-established partnerships with 280+ leading universities worldwide. Located in Toronto, York is the third largest university in Canada, with a strong community of 53,000 students, 7,000 faculty and administrative staff, and more than 300,000 alumni.

Full-Time Tenure-Track and Contractually Limited Appointments

The following positions will commence July 1, 2021 and are subject to budgetary approval. Salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Successful candidates must demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in teaching (and scholarly research for professorial appointments). All applicants should be suitable for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology-enhanced learning is preferred.

Some of the following positions are open only to qualified individuals who self-identify as Aboriginal (Indigenous), and/or as Black peoples of African Descent (for example, Africans and African heritage people from the Caribbean, Americas, Europe), and/or as members of other visible minorities (racialized groups).  Recognizing the underrepresentation of Black, Indigenous, and other faculty of colour in the arts, this opportunity is to support the University’s Affirmative Action program and has been developed based on the special program provisions of the Ontario Human Rights Code. The position is part of a cohort hire of fourteen new colleagues at York University, including hires across a number of faculties and a wide range of areas and fields. Successful candidates will be joining a vibrant scholarly community at York, where we aspire to achieve equity and diversity in all areas, including race equity.
