Job Description Summary
The Department of Civil Engineering at Auburn University seeks an Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure track) in Geotechnical Engineering beginning Fall 2021. The selected faculty member is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in geotechnical engineering; develop an externally funded research program; supervise doctoral and masters students; and publish in refereed journals. The selected candidate is expected to engage in service activities with professional organizations and the university.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in civil engineering or a closely related field at the time of employment and meet eligibility requirements to work in the U.S. on the date appointment is scheduled to begin, and must communicate effectively in English.
Desired Qualifications
Candidates should have research and teaching interests that complement those of the existing faculty. Desired research interests include, but are not limited to, coastal geotechnics, unsaturated soil mechanics, rock mechanics, underground construction, sustainability geotechnics, geosynthetics, soil improvement and other emerging areas of geotechnical engineering.
Desirable qualifications include: research and teaching experiences in geotechnical engineering; postdoctoral and/or industry experience; and professional engineering registration or the ability to pursue licensure as a Professional Engineer.
