Purpose of Position

The Haile/US Bank College of Business at Northern Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Finance position. The expected start date for the position is August 2021.

The AACSB -accredited Haile/US Bank College of Business serves over 3,000 of NKU’s 15,000 students with a full complement of traditional degree programs, plus several nationally recognized centers and specialized programs. The college is also home to the Haile Student Managed Investment Fund ( HSIF ). The HSIF was launched in 2011 as part of a $15 million gift from the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr. / US Bank Foundation. In its brief history, the HSIF has grown from its initial $465,000 to a total of $960,000. The HSIF was awarded a 5-Star rating from Morningstar.

Primary Responsibilities

Candidates from all research areas in finance are welcome to apply. Current teaching needs include coursework in international finance, corporate finance, financial management, and derivatives securities. To support faculty research, NKU subscribes to Thomson Reuters Datastream. Summer research support is available each year on a competitive basis. The standard teaching load for an assistant professor in this position is a 3/3 teaching load which continues after tenure by maintaining active scholar status.

Qualifications

Preferred candidates will hold a Ph.D. or DBA in Finance from an AACSB -accredited program. ABDs with evidence of imminent completion of their degree will also be considered. Expectations for the successful candidate include: a commitment to teaching excellence at undergraduate and graduate levels in the areas of financial management, corporate finance, international finance, and derivatives; an expectation to teach both in the classroom and online; the ability to publish quality peer-reviewed academic research; a willingness to participate in engaged service; and, a commitment and sensitivity to fostering a working and learning environment which is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds with a team of faculty and staff that contributes to the collegiality of the department and college.
