About the Position

The Lewis & Clark Problem Gambling Services Assistant Director & Counselor assists in overseeing the administrative work of the program, will support the Director in ensuring the program meets all service contract requirements, and provides direct services to individuals, couples, and families affected by problem gambling. The Assistant Director & Counselor will work under the direct supervisory and administrative authority of the Lewis & Clark Problem Gambling Services Director and will collaborate with the Director closely.

This position is supported by Multnomah County Health Department, Mental Health & Addictions Services Division which allocates funds for problem gambling services.
Continuation of employment is dependent on continued funding by Multnomah County Health Department.

The Lewis & Clark Problem Gambling Services (PGS) clinic shares space with the Lewis & Clark Community Counseling Center (LCCCC) and works closely with the LCCCC Director. Both PGS and LCCCC are grounded in a strong commitment to social justice, providing therapy to underserved populations, and providing anti-racist services and supervision. PGS is looking for a colleague with the requisite knowledge in problem gambling treatment, someone who shares our commitment to providing therapy and supervision with a social justice and trauma informed lens, and who works collaboratively within a team.

What You'll Do


  • Fulfill program management responsibilities in the director's absence.

  • Manage PGS email to engage interested clients

Training and Supervision

  • Assist with training new volunteers, graduate assistant counselors, and interns.

  • Assist with supervision of PMHC/A students.

  • Assist in the delivery of staff trainings.

  • Assist with issues related to Hebert & Lewis (H&L) paperwork and submission.


  • Lead outreach with community partners (GBIRT trainings, creating referral pathways).

  • Oversee community engagement events at the clinic.

Service Provider

  • Provide problem gambling treatment to individuals and families to a small caseload.

Other responsibilities as determined by the PGS Director.

  • Certified Gambling Addiction Counselor II (or can obtain within the first year of employment)

  • LPC or LPC-intern, LMFT or LMFT-intern (Master’s Degree required)

  • Experience with working with trainees or supervisees

  • Proficient in excel, word, and web based electronic health record

  • Ability to work with complex and sensitive data and to maintain confidentiality. Discretion, personal integrity, and superior ethics. This position deals extensively with confidential and sensitive information covered under federal FERPA, HIPPA, and 42 CFR Part 2 guidelines

  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills

  • Experience providing clinical supervision

  • Secondary languages: English and Spanish

Physical Requirements

Requires sitting with occasional walking, standing, bending, or carrying of small items. Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
